Crowland : Croyland Abbey was a monastery of the Benedictine Order in Lincolnshire, sixteen miles from Stamford and thirteen from Peterborough. It was founded in memory of St. Guthlac, early in the eighth century, by Ethelbald, King of Mercia, but was entirely destroyed and the community slaughtered by the Danes in 866.

photography workshop : I went on a wildlife photography workshop on wed 25/11/09 on a one to one basis with Derek Henderson. Had a super day out following red kites, trying to capture a Kingfisher - we heard one but could not track it down - and generally keeping our eyes open for anything that may have popped out of the wood work!! I used Derek's 5D MKii and a 100-400mm USM lens whilst he was using a 5d with a 600mm prime lens. It really is not as easy as it seems !! BUT I learnt a lot and i know where to go when i want to follow it up. Great day out.

coome park : on the way to Stroud for the wedding we stopped off at Coome Park and Westbury Court Garden. Had a nice walk in the grounds which had been extensively reshaped by Capability Brown - one of the first landscapes he did. Then moved onto Westbury for a quick visit.
